This privacy policy sets out how KITE.LEGAL uses and protects your personal data.

KITE.LEGAL, the operator of this website, is a trading name of LJE Consulting Limited, a limited company registered in England and Wales with company number 16367722 and its registered office at Mansion House, Manchester Road, Altrincham, Cheshire WA14 4RW (‘we’, ‘our’, ‘us’).

KITE.LEGAL works primarily with businesses, however may collect, use, store or transfer the following types of personal data through our initial contact or subsequent services:

Identity data → Names, title, date of birth, gender of individuals within your business. Particularly those with whom we have contact. Which leads us to..

Technical & usage data → could include internet protocol (IP) address, browser type and version, time zone setting and location, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform, device ID and other technology on the devices you use to access this website.

Your interactions with us → you may provide personal data to us when filling in an online form, sending us an email or speaking in person via online meeting or phone.

Third parties or publicly available sources → in the course of researching your business, we may access publicly available sources including LinkedIn, your company website and news articles, all of which may contain personal data.

Automated technologies or interactions → KITE.LEGAL does not track or collate any technical or usage data about your interactions with our website. However, our website is operated by Squarespace, who may collect visitor data, primarily through cookies and an analytics system that captures information like IP addresses, browser details, and page views.

3. Purpose of processing your personal data

In order to process your personal data, we are required by law to have a legal basis for doing so.

We rely on one or more of the following legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract with you → Where we need to perform the contract we are about to enter into or have entered into with you.

  • Legitimate interests → We may use your personal data where it is necessary to conduct our business and pursue our legitimate interests, for example to prevent fraud and enable us to give you the best and most secure customer experience. We make sure we consider and balance any potential impact on you and your rights (both positive and negative) before we process your personal data for our legitimate interests. We do not use your personal data for activities where our interests are overridden by the impact on you (unless we have your consent or are otherwise required or permitted to by law).

  • Consent → We rely on consent only where we have obtained your active agreement to use your personal data for a specified purpose, for example if you subscribe to an email newsletter.

Your personal data will only be shared with third parties where necessary for the purposes set out above. This is likely to include:

Our accountants, PayStream Accounting Services Ltd, where necessary to set you up as a client and for invoicing purposes.

Any third parties you permit us to liaise with for the purposes of carrying out your contract, such as your accountant, consultants or other advisors.

5. International transfers

Your personal data will not be transferred out of the UK unless specifically discussed with you and required by the scope of work agreed between us.

6. Data security

We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed.

7. How long will you keep my personal data?

We will only retain your personal data for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, regulatory, tax, accounting or reporting requirements. We may retain your personal data for a longer period in the event of a complaint or if we reasonably believe there is a prospect of litigation in respect to our relationship with you.

By law we have to keep basic information about our customers (including Contact and Identity data) for six years after they cease being customers for tax purposes.

If you wish to request erasure of your personal data, please email hello@kite.legal and we’ll remove personal data where there is no good reason or need for us to continue processing it in accordance with applicable laws. Note, we may need to retain some basic contact information in order to comply with our legal requirements.

9. Complaints

You have the right to make a complaint to the ICO, the UK regulator for data protection issues (www.ico.org.uk). However, before doing so please make sure you have first made your complaint to us or asked us for clarification if there is something you do not understand using our contact details above.

10. Changes to the privacy policy and your duty to inform us of changes

We keep our privacy policy under regular review. It is important that the personal data we hold about you is accurate and current. Please keep us informed if your personal data changes during your relationship with us, for example a new address or email address.
